| The Voice Project is a multi-year, multi-media project that centers on a fresh translation of the Bible, but also encompasses helping poor people around the world.
Publisher Thomas Nelson and the non-profit Ecclesia Bible Society joined together to produce the oversize paperback edition of The Voice New Testament in Fall 2008.
What is The Voice New Testament?
The Voice is a fresh expression of the timeless narrative known as the Bible. Stories of God’s goodness, which were told to generations by their grandparents and tribal leaders, were recorded and assembled to form the Christian Scriptures. Too often the passion, grit, humor, and beauty were lost in the translation process. Unlike most translations, the original books of the Bible were not written by one writer or a committee. Putting together a group of 80 scholars and writers, the Ecclesia Bible Society gave each book to one writer and one scholar to start the process of translating God’s message to His people. After the first draft was written, each book was given to seven other people who love and know the Bible to read and critique. In all there were fourteen levels of review to ensure that this is not just a beautifully written New Testament and easy to read and understand, but also scripturally accurate.
Who are the People Who Hand-make the Leather Covers?
The people who hand-make the leather covers live in deplorable conditions in Buenos Aires. Their pastor wanted to find a way to help them make a living. He knew how to do leather work, but there was not a market that would support many people. The Ecclesia Bible Society partnered with these people to make the beautiful leather covers for the oversize paperback version of The Voice New Testament. Now these good Christian people have hope of a better tomorrow for their families.
Songs of The Voice CDs, Volume 1 & 2
World Publishing and Nelson Bibles produced Volumes 1 and 2, respectively, of Songs from the Voice. Volume 1 "Please Don't Make Us Sing This Song" was inspired by Psalms. Volume 2 "Song of the Most High" was the New Testament. Both are outstanding both musically and spiritually.
